Temperature of 44° at 0855 leaving Moxee Dairy made a stop at Home Depot to buy safety vests instead of safety jackets.
They wanted a warm-up of 10 miles to start the day.

After a break they wanted another 10 miles.

I’m guessing g the speed on this part will be quite a bit slower. There IS a nice uphill, but also a nice downhill. I’m stopped about 10 miles in, but on a downhill. Temperature is 57°.

After break I went 3 miles to the Manhattan Project Monument. There was a security checkpoint I didn’t want to challenge. The guys wanted another 15 from here.

After a lengthy lunch break since the bread was missing, (peanut butter & jelly, cookies, nuts, & water they wanted another 12. They are only 33 away from their goal for the day at 1233. AND yes the bread was at the bottom of the gear!

At this break spot it’s 61° and sunny. I may suggest more sunscreen being applied. After this stop they only have 22 miles left for the day

We are about 9 miles from our destination and it looks like we’ve arrived back in the land of the orchards with miles of them. I’m not sure what they are putting on but it must not be good for humans. What I thought were cherry trees were a variety of apple trees. They were very young ones though.

After this last stop they are headed to the motel! Just a trip from the Brooks’ home to town.
The boys made it to Othello WA! More importantly! THEY HAVE MADE IT 1/10 OF THE WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY!
Alan’s thoughts: Keep the raincoat in the car! It was a beautiful day.
Buck’s thoughts: Beautiful day in the Columbia River Valley.
