This is a two day/116 mile ride according to the spreadsheet. Today is the 1st 1/2. The boys are headed out from Othello to LaCrosse…65 miles today. Temperature is 46° at 0815. They wanted about 10 miles to warm up. “Someone” missed a turn and had to make a detour to get on the right path.
I don’t know what happened to the pictures. Have to double click on them.

After a short break they wanted 12 more miles. I stretched it to 13 miles since there was a rest area at that distance. They had some long up hill climbs to get here which gave me time to try to make some ft8 contacts on the radio. I heard China but couldn’t connect.

Alan said, “I’m digging this temp & tailwind. I’m looking forward to this drop off this afternoon.”
After the break they wanted another 12 miles. This will leave them 33 miles left for the goal today. 1130 &

They wanted a diner in Washtucna. Their second choice was a park with a public bathroom.

I went in the Java Bloom Espresso Floral & Gifts Convenience Store & By Golly they have a sign up for a bbq sandwich special!….they also have ice cream!

After lunch they have 22 miles to reach the day’s goal. They wanted 10 miles before the 1st break. There happened to be a road at that point!

They wanted the next break to be in LaCrosse with the option of riding another 15 miles to Endicott.

Some kids were out enjoying the warm sunny day in the park and directed me to the public restroom. After a brief break the guys decided they wanted to continue to ride since there warm sunshine with the wind at their backs and end the ride at Endicott. It is 16 miles away. They didn’t want to go crazy so they told me the next break would be in 9 miles. It didn’t take long to get to the middle of nowhere!
With about 7 miles left to Endicott and after a break, Al said this is the beer sprint, but he’s pacing himself for 20 miles.

We made it to Endicott with no cell coverage. Al will stop his ride and it will upload when we hit signal. The plan is to stay in Colfax, if we can find it without a map or cell signal.
Al quote: Our lack of strength, ability, and endurance was overcome today by a nice tailwind.
Buck quote: Fantastic downwind cycling today.
