The guys are riding over Lookout Pass today from Kellogg ID to St Regis MT. Temperature is 39°. They are leaving at about 0835 PST. Buck is hoping a bike shop in Wallace ID is open to get an adjustment made. I found the bike shop, they rent e-bikes. He said our riders would be better mechanics than him. They have their work done in Kellogg-it was closed yesterday. I changed the break spot from in town to where I could meet them on the trail.
Yesterday evening we took a preview ride up the pass to inspect conditions.

After this break we are to meet in Mullan ID it will have been a 1,000 foot climb from Kellogg.
After a short break & psyching themselves up they climbed back on the bikes for the approximately 1,700 foot climb in 6 miles.
With the conditions of the trail that they saw yesterday they will be riding from Mullan to Lookout Pass on I-90. The climb from here is ONLY about 6 miles. “It’s about to get real, Part 2”.

Time zone change at the top of the pass where they enter Montana!
The guys stopped at The Old Montana Bar to warm up & eat. It looks like St Regis is in sight.

About 24 miles left…NO signal meant NO lodging for the night. I went on ahead and got in touch with the Director of Lodging and got a room in St Regis. she’s The BEST!
Al’s quote. Boy! I was naive to believe that our planned bike trail was still a functioning snowmobile trail. Rerouting!
Buck’s quote. Construction zones can be concerning.
