They are mounting up in Drummond MT with a temperature of 43° at 8:07. They are Headed to Garrison and then Helena. For you flatlanders around Savannah MO, it’s pronounced Helena.
After a couple of stops to shed clothes they are back on after 12 miles. The temperature is up to 49°
After 20 miles they jumped in for a warm up break and a snack.

After another 8 miles on Hwy 12 they stopped for a bit before continuing the climb. the temperature was 47. At this break they were talking about stopping for something g hot for lunch. They wanted 8 miles but I stopped at the Avon Family Cafe so they could warm up, enjoy some hot food, & visit with the locals. When I got here there was ONE car here. When they got here the joint was PACKED! The Pie connoisseur commented, “this is my kinda place. I’ve struck gold!” We sat at the bar and the waitress bumped us to the top of the ordering pecking order.

Break time in Elliston MT temperature of 44° before the last push up Macdonald Pass.

According g to Google maps I’m 2.2 miles from the top of the pass at a pull off spot. I think almost a car a minute has stopped to fill jugs at the “water spigot”. Some has made a u-turn and headed back from whence they came. Others continued on down the hill.

When they made it to the top it was 44°.
