Well, the President took off this morning, he said he was heading north to visit a state park. The guys decided to ride today. There has been a change to the spreadsheet to avoid downtown Minneapolis. They got underway about 0830 with a temperature of 55° and a ESE wind at 8mph. The 1st stop was to be 5-7 miles in.

After a quick stop they were ready to head on and told me Honky’s in Grove City was the next stop they won’t like it because it’s right on Hwy 12 with nowhere for them to relax.

After the break along the road they wanted to go to Bikes by Bob in Litchfield MN for some preventative maintenance. Bob said he wouldn’t do a thing! He said he could put a new chain on but it doesn’t need one. He said he could disassemble, clean/repair, and sell him new parts but he didn’t need it. He also advised us to go further south of Minneapolis than we had planned. Some of the city names he said were on the spreadsheet so we have just a small detour.

We are seeing a lot of farmland & trees. A lot of the farmhouses are surrounded by trees.

They found Mookie’s Diner for a refueling session….Including one getting ice cream. The a waitress got to visit with the guys and then as the were leaving a gentleman caught them outside for a short conversation.

After the last break they had 41/2 miles to go for the day.

Buck’s quote. Another tough day with the wind…. Happy to break 50 miles today! Stopped at Bikes by Bob in Litchfield MN today. Bob is an awesome guy… pointed me the right way on my bike repair, and gave us some great advice. The shop is an amazing place!

Al’s quote. Based on advice from Bob at Bikes from Bob in Litchfield MN, we’ve turned south to avoid Minneapolis. It’s a dynamic plan now and I’m anxious!

Day 29. Willmar MN to Hutchinson MN. 51 tough, windy miles. 1611 feet of climb. Traffic is heavier now that we are 60 miles from Minneapolis.
