They are getting ready to hit the trail at 0720 full sun, temperature is 80°. Heading toward IN today.
FEW pictures today as it was all most all city driving for me. For the first 19 miles I had difficulty keeping up with them! I think I finally got around them and am sitting in a park waiting for them.

After a short break they were after it again.
During a break at the state line they visited with a guy who works at a bicycle shop & another who was celebrating his 63rd birthday. Both were great dudes and in a good mood. One was looking to see where to plug his car in…HA!
During the break next to the Griffith-Merrillville Airport we discussed how much cooler it was in Indiana. After some rest & water under a shade tree they took off for Trailblazers Bike Barn in Hobart IN. It’s right on the trail, has some picnic tables in the shade, & is closed Monday and Tuesday.

They are 33 miles short of where the spreadsheet says to end but there are at least 3 “short” days scheduled in the next week to catch up. My vote is to call it a day. We will see what they think. RIDE STOPPED!
Buck’s quote: It’s truly fantastic to get off the bike today!
Al’s quote. Short day of 41 miles in extreme heat. However, it’s good to be around Chicago and into Indiana, our 10th state! Yay!
Day 39. Mokena IL to Hobart IN. 41 miles. 953 feet of climb. Extreme heat. Quit early- by 1pm.
