It’s 69° at about 0630 and they are eating breakfast in the vehicle purchased at Circle K. We tried McDonalds but the lobby was locked until 0700 & the low clearance didn’t allow the vehicle with the antennas on top to pass. Supposed to be hot today so they have about 50ish miles to do.

They took a short break at about 14 miles in. In the way they thought they would see a couple of head on collisions. They took off again for another 9 miles.

After another short stop & fresh batteries in their lights, they were off for another 10 miles for a break at a gas station. There was road construction with a flagged just past the entrance to the station, NOT a good place to be, in my opinion. Luckily they turned before the construction zone and went on a different road. 15 miles left for till Point State Park & trails! temperature is 81°with a heat index of 89°.

They are 4.5 miles away from the Great Allegheny Passage and all trails from there! 1022 with a temperature of 82° and a heat index of 93°. The motel they have reservations at is about 5.5 miles from the beginning of the trail, right on the trail.

Parking was $10 and you were supposed to enter your license plate at the kiosk. I didn’t see a kiosk to enter the plate!
They made the state park before noon!

After some pictures they traveled on to the motel which was right in the bike path. 1226 it is 88° and a heat index of 97°.
Buck’s Quote: Crazy drivers the morning, but we persisted and made Pittsburgh shortly before noon.
Al’s quote. I could see the foundation at the start of the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) trail from a mile away from atop a bridge. It was a moment of accomplishment. It meant our road riding was complete. No more contending with cars. No more hi-vis, reflecting shirt/vest. From this point, the helmet and blinking safety light are optional. It meant that I’m going to survive this ride. It was a moment for me.
Day 46. (PA side of) East Palestine OH to Pittsburgh PA. 54 miles. 2,123 feet of climb. Early start (pedaling by 6:40) to beat the heat. Stopped about 12:30 with the heat index of 100+.
