They took off from Dam 5 at 0816 in sunny skies with a temperature of 73°. Destination-Closer to the End Point!

They were about a mile from the break spot when they called me and said they had another tire problem. I changed parking spots to get closer to the trail.

After a “Good” repair they were off for another 10ish miles to the Bog Slack Boat Ramp for a cool down & break. I was having a nice visit with a fella watching boats unload at the dock when I was disrupted by a phone call.

After the repair was completed they were on to Taylor’s Landing. This looks like it will be a good place for them to #1 get wet & #2 to have lunch out of the vehicle.

As I was waiting for them at Taylor’s Landing several riders passed. One older fella rang his bell as he went behind me.

The guys made it and said the dude I had visited with at the boat launch talked with them. They had lunch out of the back, went for a cooling dip in the Potomac and rode on another 10 miles to Lock 38.

After some water and visiting they wanted to try the Dargan Boat Launch 8 miles away.

After helping a dude back his boat trailer in & taking a soak, they were off for another 10 miles.

When they arrived, they asked if they were done for the day. I raised the bike carrier and they loaded them. It rained on us on the way to the motel! then it rained harder and we sat in the vehicle a while.
Buck’s Quote: We overcame several challenges today to enable a final ride of around 56 miles tomorrow. I’m looking forward to reaching the National Mall tomorrow!!
Al’s quote. It’s great to progress to the well-maintained portion of the C&O trail.
Al’s quote #2! Programmer joke. I fix bicycle tires like I write code. Three patches later and it works. 😀
Day 50. Clear Spring MD to Brunswick MD. 55 miles. 822 feet of climb. Another hot day until it rained.
