The ride is scheduled for 42 miles today and the boys are starting out with a cold 51° due to the wind. They said they wanted 8 miles to start and then decide what clothes to change to.
Alan decided to try his safety yellow rain pants and a shot of Diet Coke and they wanted another 7 miles. I went 6 miles and saw this so I pulled over. It looks like it’s about to get real one last time in the Rocky Mountains.

Great story. For the first time, Alan put on rain pants and used a bungee cord to keep the pants out of the chain. The bungee was too loose and ineffective. We played the ‘roadside scavenger game’, and found a shoe, which was covered in ants. We used its shoelace, and cut it in half using a nearby piece of broken glass. Alan then tied each pant leg using the discarded shoelace. It was a successful roadside scavenger hunt!

Another stop to warm up & dry their gloves from where we think is 2 miles from the summit. NO signal so we don’t know for certain where we are.

It rained all the way to our sleeping quarters via vehicle. It wasn’t long and the roof began to leak!
Buck’s quote. We are a magnet for crappy weather.
Al’s quote. Tough conditions today with a cold rain. But we successfully completed our final major climb and are on the downhill side of the Rockies!!!
Townsend MT to (west of) White Sulphur Springs MT. Only 27 miles in rain and temps in the 40s…and 2321 feet of climb.
