Ride Day #23 Baker MT to White Butte SD

The call this morning is Put on Your Sunscreen. FULL SUN this morning & a favorable tailwind. With a temperature of 45° they climbed on at 0818. Glad to be leaving Montana 675 miles 26,000ft of climb 13 days. Treat us right North Dakota!

HELLO NORTH DALOTA!

Life size T-Rex

They said 13 miles was a nice distance so let’s do it again. After another 8 miles they have made their destination (according to the spreadsheet) by 1230. Guess that’s why it’s written in sand. After a quick ice cream, by one of the riders they are back on the bikes again….OH they were closed for the track meet!

HE wasn’t going to be denied!
That looks close enough for an official break

They wanted Scranton ND next. I told them it looked like it was off the highway. They had a Highway lunch at the Scranton ND junction.

Next break was Reeder ND and they wanted drinks & to re-evaluate. They wanted another 10 miles OR a comfort station. I struck pay dirt at 8.5 miles in Bucyrus!

Automatic flusher

Buck’s quote. We touched down in 3 different states today!!

Al’s quote. Man, I can’t believe that I was nearly taken out by a grouse. An oncoming car hit the large bird and it rolled like a bowling ball tracking towards my front wheel. Near takedown avoided. Whew!

Day 23. Baker MT to White Butte SD. 102 miles. 3110 feet of climb. Rode in 3 states today: MT, ND and SD.

What a ride! 3 states and a century. Epic! Fresh grouse for dinner too. 😁

Hey Buck. Been following but hadn’t left a message. I’ve been playing tennis like 3 times a week but you’re prolly in better shape now. Cycle safe.
