The guys are getting ready to climb on their bikes. The temperature is 54° and sunny. THE TIME IS 0741! The earliest start yet. They are putting on both sunscreen & butt butter. By the end of the day they should be sleeping within spitting distance of the Mississippi River.

After a 10 mile in break they wanted 13 more miles. This will be about the 40% completed ride for the day, according to the spreadsheet. Well they crossed to the east side of I-35 and there wasn’t a sign so I did t know it until I looked on the map. As I sat waiting for them a gentleman was doing yard work and came to ask if I needed anything. I explained that I was waiting for my bicycling friends and he said OH, ok. I told him he was only the 3rd person in almost 2,000 miles to check on me.

Next stop is the Cannon Falls Veterans Memorial on the banks of the Cannon River.

After a highway lunch out of the back of the vehicle & a look at the radar they decided to take off on a 22 mile bike trail. They wanted a “rain break” at the Welch Village Trailhead. I did pass an elk farm on the way.

I LOVE it when they get on these bike trails & I have no service to find them! Service was restored and they were about a 1/2 mile away from me. They paid trail usage fees and we were off to Red Wing.

I did see the Red Wing Factory…Made in America!
Buck’s quote. Don’t fixate on wildflowers while riding.
Al’s quote. Oops. I made a wrong turn that added 3 miles. Sorry Buck.
Day 31. New Prague MN to Red Wing MN. 59 miles. 1969 feet of climb. Last 20 miles was on Cannon Valley Trail, which was very nice.
