The motel didn’t have much of a choice for breakfast. They had a honey bun and a cup of coffee and said they would grab something at a gas station. We didn’t pass a gas station, but there were some meat sticks in the vehicle. They departed New Paris IN at 0705 at a temperature of 67°with a few high clouds.

The the first leg they wanted 10 miles OR the 1st gas station. Luckily I found shade again at exactly 10 miles because it doesn’t look like there’s a gas station on the road we are on, there is barely any traffic on it. Since there was only a shoulder to park on I moved out of the shade and into a field entrance. After a quick stop they were back on for another 10 miles.

A tad bit longer break than the 1st one but not a real long break and they were back on for another 10 miles.

We stumbled passed this place.

Some folks from the house stopped on their way out and visited and even took a picture of the guys. After the break they wanted, I’m beginning to see a pattern here! another 10 miles.

At this stop, according to the spreadsheet they only have 14 miles left for the day. Tomorrow’s ride is 69 miles so I’m betting they will want to go further today.

While they were on their next break, this dude showed up and challenged them to a race!

When I think I’ve got it figured out…8 miles till the next break.

After a break I had to have a safety briefing with one rider who almost left without his helmet. He said the bandana felt like a helmet. Another 8-10 miles was the order! They fell short of that goal when they stopped at a subway for lunch, fuel in the gut and soak in the a/c.

After lunch they were back at it and made it into their 11th state! OH!

I thought they were done but OH NO! They wanted another 8-10 miles as long as I found them shade& a breeze.

During the break there was an attempt to get a room for the night. Credit card info, phone number, the whole ball of wax was given and the. They said that they didn’t have a room available. They rode on another 8ish miles and another attempt will be made. In other news-there IS a NICE tailwind today! They are only 43 miles away from tomorrow’s destination.

At this stop a room was secured. They rode on another 8 miles. “I don’t want to give up this tailwind.” That brought us to Hwy 6 east & Henry Country 18. Upon looking at the tracking they were north of me so I went up to the junction of Henry County 18 & Henry County T to end the ride.

Al’s quote. I feel so much better with the cooler temps (low 80s). It’s good to be in our 11th state, Ohio!

Day 42. New Paris IN to (near) Napoleon OH. Cooler temperatures (low 80s) and helpful tailwind. 90 miles. 3,362 feet of climb.
