Ride Day #51 Brunswick MD to Washington DC

After watching the weather forecast this morning the guys are climbing on their bikes in a cloudy sky and 72°.

I made it to the first break spot, Nolands Ferry, completely cloudy and it is very still here! The temperature is still 72°. They wanted to get going pretty quick because of the forecast. I told them it wouldn’t rain till at least noon and even if it did, like a meteorologist I’d get a pay raise. They agreed and took off. No pictures from the bicycles yet as it’s to humid to use the camera on the phone.

Next stop is Whites Ferry. The book that Steve co-authored shows it is an active ferry. The ferry is t to active today as it says it is closed. 35.5 miles to get off of this trail.

Next stop is Sycamore Landing 27.21 miles left.

I think this is where the President crossed the Potomac River
Looks like a brief shower before noon

There was a sprinkle or maybe more. After looking at the radar they continued on. Next stop was at 19.63mm, Lock 22. The parking lot isn’t on the trail & I have no signal to see where they are. There is a bike path headed toward what I assume is the trail. I hope there’s a sign down there that has Lock 22 on it so they don’t pass me.

I didn’t have much signal but got a text saying they were going another 4 miles. I drove out and got enough signal to get the map pointed to Lock 20.

I got there and there was a gate and Dude wanted money to park. I showed my America the Beautiful pass and he said I was good. I met the guys, they took a break, and said the next stop was the Georgetown Visitors Center.

I drove in a light rain and made it to the destination. I even parallel parked on the left side.

They met me and were less than 2 miles from their goal. I could only get close to their goal and circled around a few times. I finally found a parking spot and texted them where to find me. WHAT A ZOO!

Buck’s Quote: The end of a great journey! Many miles and memories made. I’m very blessed and thankful to be healthy enough to be able to participate in this adventure! This is something the three of us won’t ever forget! Many thanks to my partners (Al & Bruce) who handled all the planning & logistics for the ride. Bruce did a fabulous job with the blog site. I know a lot of folks were able to experience the ride because of his efforts. My final thoughts…. It’s great to be off the bike! 😃

Al’s quote. We are elated to reach our final destination, Washington DC. It’s an incredible sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. I’m thankful for my friends who joined, both physically and virtually, on this journey. And I’m thankful to God for our safety and no incidents! I will see everyone soon! Homeward bound!

Day 51. Brunswick MD to Washington DC. 59 miles. 900 feet of climb. Light rain made made us messy. We are excited to reach our final destination.
